The Penultimate DFI...

So if this is the penultimate DFI - that means the exam is next week. Am I worried - no, am I anxious - Yes!  We'll see....

I enjoyed beginning to understand the rudiments of coding. It's all very logical and made a great deal of sense. I love the idea of being able to use it across a number of different subjects. One of the slides showed a great use of scratch for geometry. I'm looking forward to giving it a go in the classroom.

I had a play with scratch and created an exceedingly simple first attempt - I'm sure that while my kids will say 'well done' they'll be thinking, "I can do heaps better than that!" I've got to start somewhere!

I love you little bug drawing the shape. Well done for this!
I also liked the link to using scratch with geometry and am keen to give this a try as well.
I also know how you are feeling in regards to the exam next week. We will all be supporting each other I am sure. Good luck if I don't get to speak to you before then.

  2. Hi Monica, I do like what you write and often it is the same as I think and/or feel. I had a go on scratch today and found myself wanting to spend more time on it. As for the exam next week ... I am anxious as well. The best of luck in advance and I am sure you will be fine! Ngā mihi nui Maria

  3. Kia ora Monica. I must admit, I am enjoying your thoughts and reflections as we navigate our way through the challenges DFI brings. You can be assured that in each of our DFI sessions, your comments give me a bit of a giggle. Not in the session where you were unwell but definitely in the other's. I can absolutely guarantee you are not alone in the anxiety you feel around digital learning. We gain so much from leaving our comfort zone and challenging ourselves and I know over time, the confidence comes and using what we have all learned will be second nature. I think you're doing great!

  4. Another thoughtful post Monica. Coding has so much potential for use in our classes, so I'm glad you enjoyed your taste and hopefully you will feel confident to use it more with your students.

    Good luck for your exam.

  5. Kia ora Monica,
The logic of coding really appeals to me too. Although the further into it you go the more complex I find it.
Best of luck for the exam tomorrow - a great reminder of how our learners feel when they take part in assessments!
